Finally! We have a date to mark on our calendars for the return of Doctor Who! EW.com has revealed that Doctor Who will premiere on BBC America Saturday, April 23 at 9pm ET.
The two-part season opener has The Doctor, Amy and Rory on an adventure over here in the US, where they “find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah-right to the Oval Office in 1969” Also the two-part has as few guest stars in the form of Mark Sheppard who is playing Canton Everett Delaware III per IMDB, and of course Alex Kingston bring back River Song.
EW also says that the show had record ratings for BBC America and was at top seller on iTunes behind Mad Men and Glee. (I am one of those people, as I only jumped on Doctor Who after the last season aired, mostly thanks to the Nerdist)
Also, check out their first look at the new Doctor Who poster, can’t wait to see a larger version of that!!
Check this out, I’ve never gone as far as to buy something that hasn’t been released in the US up to this point, but this might get me to if they aren’t released in the US. Especially now that I’m starting to get my kids interested in Doctor Who.
From Doctor Who News:
BBC Worldwide has announced a major new deal with Character Options’ new Construction division which will see Doctor Who enter the construction toy market for the first time.
The Character Building range will include 3D micro-figures, brought to life with sculpted facial features whilst play sets will be uniquely tailored to Doctor Who. Fans will be able to build their own Doctor Who world with all their favourite characters including the Doctor and Amy Pond with their famous foes the Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels.
Distinctive to the Character Building range will be the use of texture on some of the building blocks, whether it be the sleek and smooth edges of a spaceship, or the rough edges of a rock face. This will be pivotal in recreating each environment, providing a natural look, but still allowing easy construction play. The entire range will be displayed at the Character Options stand at the London Toy Fair with the first products set for release in Spring 2011.
Matt Smith commented on his new figure:
“It was very surreal and funny coming face to face with a miniature version of myself as the Doctor but I’m glad that the Doctor’s trusty Sonic Screwdriver is in his hand, ready to fend off attacks from monsters!”
With Karen Gillan adding:
“I absolutely love these miniature toys of The Doctor and Amy Pond despite the strange sensation of seeing myself immortalized in plastic and miniature and buildable…and dissectible. I’m loving Pond’s flaming ginger mane and it’s funny to think that The Doctor and Amy are small enough to travel around in someone’s pocket.”
Richard Hollis, who is Head of UK Licensing at BBC Worldwide said the reason the BBC has chosen to work with Character Options is because of the quality and imagination they put into their toys, with Jon Diver, Character Group’s Joint Managing Director, saying the new project
Springfield Punx is a little pet project of mine. The idea of doing fan art parodying some of my favorite characters and stars in such a fun and simple style got me hooked immediately.
Sounds pretty sweet, right? Well let me tell you friends, it is! In just some quick surfing, I found some of my favorite, that have been highlighted here on this site before.
We have, The Doctor, Craig Ferguson, and Spider-man! Its like the Simpsonification of Geekasms.com itself!
So, if you like the Simpsons, or just wish to see some of your favorite characters drawn up by a talented individual, do yourself a favor and head over to Springfield Punx, no way will you be disappointed.
No this unfortunately not a real comic, but regardless, how can you not love this concept and the artwork?! I came across this and had to share! Click this Link or the picture before to go to the website of origin and the artist behind the brilliance.

The fine folks over at Blogtor Who have been kind enough to piece together four official BBC preview clips teasing the forthcoming DOCTOR WHO Christmas special, “A Christmas Carol.” After a couple of searches, these were the best I could find viewable in “my area” so a big THANK YOU to Blogtor Who!
Matt Smith and Karen Gillan return as the Doctor and his companion in an all-new Doctor Who Christmas special. Amy and Rory are trapped on a crashing space liner, and the only way the Doctor can rescue them is to save the soul of a lonely old miser, Kazran Sardick. But Sardick, the richest man in Sardicktown, beyond redemption?
